I was originally educated and worked as a chartering broker both in Denmark, but also in London for various ship-owning companies.
Today, I am employed by Dannebrog Rederi, north of Copenhagen, where I have been for a number of years. For over a decade and a half I have worked as Head of Procurement.
I have been a member of the IMPA Council since 2008. In the beginning I joined as I recognised the transition the Association was going through at the time and I wanted to be a part of it. I felt I had something of value to contribute.
When Knut Person retired I was offered the post of CFO, and as accounting is one of my favourite topics I happily accepted the challenge. In September 2015 I became CEO and Chair of IMPA.
My aim is to continue to bring the Association forward and make it an industry leader within our chosen fields of training, setting standards, and providing value to all our members, all while harvesting and gathering the huge knowledge and expertise that we as a community possess.
With over 15 years technical procurement experience, I have been the Head of Procurement for DS Schiffahrt, United Seven, and now John T. Essberger Hamburg and Dordrecht.
John T. Essberger (JTE) is renowned for its quality and flexibility. Founded in 1924 as Atlantic Tank Reederei by the tank ship pioneer John T. Essberger, the company has a long tradition in the transportation of liquids; combining technical innovation and safety based on Lloyd's quality assurance guidelines. JTE has a number of divisions including, chemical tanker, dry cargo and ship management.
I have been an IMPA Council Member since September 2014. So far, my goal has been to inform purchasers and suppliers about the Association. My main focus for 2016 and 2017 is to try and find more members from my country (Germany).
In my opinion, it is very important for purchasers to be a part of IMPA to receive the latest information from around the world, as well as allow for the exchange of information and furthering

I have been Head of Procurement for Maersk Drilling, Maersk FPSO, Maersk Supply Vessels and for Svitzer (tugboats). Today, I am Head of Procurement with UltraShip/Ultranav in Denmark. UltraShip is a ship management company within the Ultra-group which was established in 2013 to technically manage all our vessels in International trade. Also, I am responsible for establishing synergies/savings in the Ultra-Group by reducing number of suppliers globally giving more volumes to fewer suppliers.
I became a member of the IMPA Council in September 2015 and hoping to being able to contributing to IMPA's continued growth and profitability to which I have some ideas. I am looking forward to being part of IMPA and working closely together with the very dedicated and talented IMPA employees.

I was born on Feb 1st 1970 in Genova, the most important of the four "Italian Republics of the Sea" founded in the middle ages and also the town that granted to the British fleet the use of the flag with Saint George's cross, today part of the Union Jack.
After two decades in the shipping industry, with extensive experiences serving vessels ashore and on the deck, I joined Chiefmar, a market leader, 10 years ago, moving to the engine room for a 360° experience.
I am a results driven, enthusiastic supporter of the team work concept. A natural approach to sales, strongly supported by a technical degree, allowed me to better understand the steps of the supply chain and the customers' needs. The attitude to "stay hungry" helps me to move the target a bit forward every day.
Approached by IMPA some years ago, I immediately felt the common sense of professionalism, integrity and reliability that drive my business and my life. Simon is the Vice President of Global Strategic Sourcing & QHSSE at Inchcape Shipping Services.
He has more than 15 years’ experience in marine procurement and supply chain.
Based at the ISS Headquarters in London, Simon is a strong advocate of the procurement profession and takes every opportunity to interact with other industries in the search of global best practice. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement Supply and has achieved his MCIPS qualification.
Simon’s career has included positions on both the ship supplier and ship owner sides, so he has an extensive first-hand knowledge of the total marine supply chain. He is a great advocate of IMPA and is really pleased to be an IMPA Council Member.

Jim Costalos is the Executive Director of Southern Cross Marine Supplies Pty Ltd, Australia’s leading ship supply organisation with branches covering the Australian coast, and now serves all Chinese ports and Singapore.
Jim is a career ship supplier with 41 years of experience, commencing in the family business in 1975 before joining the Adelaide Steamship group division Metro-Nautilus in 1986. Here he held various senior management positions until 2003 when senior management of Nautilus and other family groups joined together to form Southern Cross Marine Supplies. In addition, Jim is currently chairing the Australian Ship Suppliers Association for 7 years and also served as Assistant Chairman for 6 years.
Jim recalls one of his fondest memories; as a young man in the ship supply business it was his responsibly for storing and logistics for the Royal Yacht Britannia in Adelaide in 1986, marking the 150th birthday for South Australia. When Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip were on board all persons going through the barriers had to have special passes issued by the Royal Australian Navy. Every item supplied had to be x-rayed by the Australian Commonwealth police before being taken aboard, measures that are now an every day occurrence.

Henry Ng is the Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of Fuji Trading (S) Pte Ltd (FTS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fuji Trading Japan, which is one of the world’s largest ship supply company with offices in all major ports worldwide.

In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM) – (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat in Malay) by the President of Singapore during the August 2003 National Day Awards ceremony.

Bruno Leite of Boa Praca Ship Supply is the IMPA ambassador in Brazil.
The company, which is one of the major general ship suppliers in Brazil, was founded in the 1950s and has grown from a small grocery store into a company with four subsidiaries that supply 80% of the most important ports in Brazil.
As well as IMPA, Boa Praça is a member of ISSA and the Baltic and International Marine Councils. It also has ISO9001 certification.
As a Commercial Manager for Boa Praça Bruno has developed an extensive network of contacts with other ship suppliers and ship agents, travelling around Brazil many times over in doing so and also taking part in the seminars and annual meetings of our Brazilian Ship Suppliers Association (ABFN). In addition he has met many purchasing managers from ship owners worldwide.
As an ambassador for IMPA in Brazil, Bruno says his mission is to 'use my experience to spread IMPA's message into the Brazilian market, as there are a lot of local companies that do not know about this powerful Association.
'Furthermore, I will use my network of contacts to promote IMPA training programmes in order to stimulate knowledge progression for Brazilian workers. I am very pleased and motivated to have been given the opportunity to start this new movement for IMPA in Brazil as I believe that there is a huge market to explore, with the potential to bring new members to learn about, debate and develop our global maritime business.

Saurish speaks at various conferences globally on a wide gamut of topics pertaining to Procurement and Supply Chain .His recent one has been at The Asian Banker Summit where he was the speaker and panelist on multiple sessions at the Supply Chain Conference track. He also writes quite regularly for various international trade magazines. He is also one of the panelists at the Procurecon Asia 2015.
His theory on value chain optimization in the marine procurement field is a trendsetter. His vision in bringing marine procurement and supply chain function at par with other industries like automobile and aerospace industry has led to various companies endorsing his supply chain optimizing model.
Apart from his regular role of heading a global procurement team, Saurish does lot of honorary consulting work. He is also been recently appointed as the Honorary Council Member of Singapore Ship Supplier Association (SSAS).
